Cortona3D presents an end-to-end publishing solution for PLM-driven technical documentation at Siemens PLM Connection 2018

27 October, 2018

Cortona3D shows its latest version of authoring and publishing software, an integrated solution for reuse source engineering and manufacturing data in technical publications at Siemens PLM Connection 2018 in Berlin, Germany (October 29-31).

Siemens PLM Connection 2018 is a three-day conference that will bring together Siemens PLM Software users, experts and developers of the Siemens PLM team to exchange software experience, discuss challenges and get information about product updates & releases. The conference agenda includes engaging presentations, case studies and workshops with new solution-centric approach to implementation of Siemens PLM software products. Cortona3D is delighted to participate in this prestigious event and will hold a presentation.

Save the date! October 30th at 11.00am Cortona3D will hold a presentation in Exhibition Hall of Estrel Convention Centre/ Knowledge Theatre 2.: Teamcenter& Cortona3D solution: from CAD to technical publishing.

The demonstration will introduce an end-to-end publishing solution based on Cortona3D and Teamcenter CMS integration in a single Teamcenter environment. The solution enables interrelations between engineering, manufacturing data and authored interactive documents that will be combined to a final publication in HTML, 2D/3D PDF and Augmented Reality. Authored documents are 2D/3D parts catalogs, CBTs, work instructions, maintenance manuals including cover pages, hyperlinked tables of content and hyperlinked indexes. The frequently repeated texts, documents and 2D/3D graphics are being reused and the publication is being automatically updated if source data changes.

Many of the challenges for the cost-effective and timely production of technical documentation for complex mechanical products arise from the standalone nature of many of the content management systems. In essence, technical publication is still largely isolated and a follow-on process.  Cortona3D’s Teamcenter integration overcomes this isolation by providing workflow, version control and relationship management capabilities that link publication units to their associated items in an assembly. Cortona3D RapidAuthor can be launched directly from Teamcenter reusing existing CAD data, BOM and other metadata and Teamcenter content and enables highly automated authoring process of text/DPL-tables, 2D/3D graphics as well as 3D-explosions and animations in a single application. Publication units are authored in accordance with DITA or S1000D standards and stored directly in Teamcenter, then distributed to Teamcenter CMS objects that are components of the Teamcenter CMS publication structure.

Since engineering data and technical publication data are interrelated in a single Teamcenter environment this improves efficiency in data management and document change management, extremely speeds up the authoring process and improves quality of technical publications.
