Cortona3D releases RapidAuthor 8.0 with improved data import and new 2D authoring features

18 March 2015

Cortona3D (www.cortona3d.com) releases a new version of its leading authoring tool for creating interactive 3D/2D technical publications. RapidAuthor v. 8.0 provides significant improvements in data import and offers a wide range of new editing features for 2D CGM images.

RapidAuthor allows for automatic creation of 2D CGM images from 3D models and adjusting them in Cortona2D Editor Pro. The new version of the editor contains a gallery of parametric objects (arrows, callouts, simple shapes, and composite lines), so the illustrator can easily create templates with required parameters. This results in significant time-savings in the authoring process. The new version supports various units of measurements and provides numerous interface improvements.

RapidAuthor S now imports alternative representations of parts from PLMXML, the import of BOP data has also been improved. The import process now can be performed in the  background mode.

Other new features in RapidAuthor 8.0 include:

  • Support for JT 10, NX 10, CATIA V5-6 2014, Solid Edge ST7, Creo Parametric 3.0, Autodesk Inventor 2015, SolidWorks 2015, Parasolid 27. (RapidAuthor only).
  • Ability to change representation parameters such as crease angle, solid, ccw.
  • Improved update algorithms.
  • Numerous bug fixes and interface improvements.
