EMDM INC. Selects Cortona3D To Provide Interactive 3D Parts Catalogs
8 August 2010
Cortona3D today announced that EMDM Inc has selected Cortona3D RapidCatalog to upgrade their parts catalogue function and deliver increased usability for customers searching, selecting and ordering spare parts.
EMDM were facing the challenge of providing one of their customers with an interactive parts catalogue solution with the ability to incorporate their existing 3D assembly data. They approached EOS Solutions, a Cortona3D reseller in the USA, to help them find the right solution for their problem. The ability to re-use the existing 3D models from Solidworks together with the BOM enables EMDM’s to publish after-sales part information quickly, accurately, and track changes with minimal effort which is key in the production of any after-sales material.
“Our Client wanted the capability to publish an interactive parts manual, with the specific requirement to include an interactive BOM with a 3D model but without the Intellectual Property that would enable reverse engineering. After evaluating several other technical communication software packages, we have found that Cortona 3D was the only program that could deliver the document that our client wanted. In our opinion, there is no other commercially available product that can deliver the results that Cortona can!” Joseph V. Sciortino III President of EMDM Inc.
“Utilizing their existing 3D CAD geometry and leveraging on the entire interactive 3D content across all its customer support information provides large man hour savings - a big resource saving for all our customers,”. commented Matthew Booth, VP, Global Sales at Cortona3D. “Basing the catalog entries on that same CAD geometry also ensures accuracy, for example, when engineering make customizations to specific units these can be quickly reflected in the interactive catalog.”
