
Connell became President in ParallelGraphics in January 2000 with responsibility for managing and building the International business. Connell has led the development and adoption of Cortona3D technology by industry leaders like Boeing and Airbus.
In his role, Connell has been very active in the promotion of open standards for 3D on the Internet both in his role as ParallelGraphics' representative to the Web3D Consortium and more recently as a member of the Advisory Board of the 3D Industry Forum.
Prior to joining ParallelGraphics, Connell was a successful financial investor including founding Meridian Capital a Russian based independent investment banking house, which is the Russian representative of GlobalM&A.
In 1993, Connell raised and managed the $66 million Framlington Russia Investment Fund; the first venture capital fund raised for Russia after the fall of communism. The fund financed some of Russia most successful new businesses including Vimpelcom, Russia’s largest cellular telephone company.
He is a graduate of Trinity College, Dublin where he initially studied Theoretical Physics but switched to Econometrics. Connell is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
Connell is married to Rachel and has five young children leaving little time for much loved leisure pursuit like golf.
